Twinning visit to Châtenay-Malabry in 2017
Travel this year was by train, One stop from Wellington to Euston then Eurostar to Paris and then a local train to Châtenay-Malabry. Completely trouble free and everyone arrived ready to enjoy themselves. Two couples went by car as they wanted a longer visit to France.
After a reception (with plenty of interesting food and wine) at a local government building in the town centre the "twinners" went to their hosts houses for the evening.
On the Saturday morning we were all invited to the opening ceremony of a new arts facility in the town square. Some good jazz was followed by the opportunity to view the art on show and to enjoy a glass or two and some fine food. In the afternoon we went out with our hosts.
Saturday evening was party time, the dinner started at eight pm, but after welcomes and a little dancing we started eating at nine. The food was superb, and was helped down by plenty of wine and some fun dancing between courses. The music was magical, one man with a keyboard and an accordian playing Beatles and Rolling Stones etc., creating a great atmosphere. Many left before coffee which came some time after one am.
On Sunday we went to a visit to the Lousis Vuiton museum in the Bois de Bologne. It's a remarkable building in a superb location. After lunch we went on a boat trip on the Seine.
We had the morning free before, with regret, we left for home. It was all too brief a visit but an enjoyable and busy weekend and the friendship between those involved seems to be growing stronger.
